The development team at Insomniac Games and publisher Microsoft continue their long-term quest to make Sunset Overdrive an important franchise on the Xbox One by announcing that they are implementing a price cut for the game, which is at the moment offered for all Xbox Live Gold members on the official store with a 40 percent price cut.

The offer is revealed via a Xbox Wire announcement and it also talks about new Achievements that are introduced for the open world shooter, designed to get players another 25 Gamerscore points for their profiles.

The teams explains that they are being introduced "to help and reward you intrepid funseeking, gamerscore and achievement hunters."

The newly added Achievements are:

- Hardcore!: Buck National vs The Apocalypse – Beat the score of 600,000 on the Challenge Buck's National vs The Apocalypse

- Hardcore!: Buck Strikes Back – Beat the score of 564,500 on the Challenge Buck's Strikes Back

- Hardcore!: Buck Stops Here – Beat the score of 703,700 on the Challenge Buck's Stops Here

Traditionally, developers working on home consoles tend to introduce new Achievements for a title only when they launch DLC or a major expansion.

The fact that Sunset Overdrive delivers some just to make the title more attractive as a price cut is announced is a sign of the special attention that the title is getting from Microsoft.

Xbox One needs major exclusive series in 2015

At the moment, Microsoft is aiming to secure as many long-term high-profile franchises as possible and Sunset Overdrive is the kind of game that can bring new players to the console in the coming months.

The title from Insomniac Games blends some impressive graphics with bright colors and outlandish designs, with fast action based around parkour moves and some over-the-top weapon choices.

For now, it's unclear whether the team aims to deliver more DLC for the shooter in the coming months or if there are any plans to work on a sequel.

The Xbox One is currently trailing behind the PlayStation 4 when it comes to worldwide sales, but there are signs that the gap between the two has been closing during the past two-month period.
