If you're looking to have your mind blown, I dare say that you've landed in the best possible place. Just as long as you happen to be a big fan of Mother Nature and body painting, that is.

Not to beat about the bush, the photo gallery below comprises a series of animal portraits created by a Florida-based artist by the name of Shannon Holt.

These portraits are not created on canvases or anything of the sorts. On the contrary, they are body paintings. That's right, whatever animal body part is depicted in them is painted on a human volunteer.

As detailed by Oddity Central, creating animal portraits on human bodies is painstaking work. Thus, the artist says that just positioning the models can take some 6 to 12 hours.

Then again, Shannon Holt maintains that, when the work of art is completed, all the effort that went into putting it together is well worth it. Even though the creations are destroyed when the models shower.

By the looks of it, the artist experimented with several ways to express herself before finally settling on using human volunteers to create her animal portraits.

Interestingly enough, Shannon Holt claims that what she loves about her work is the fact that it gives her a chance to be spontaneous.

As she put it, “I love it because it happened automatically and beautifully with no planning – it’s a perfect creative example of how cool body painting can be.”
