The Steam for Linux top selling list is always changing, but that's not really surprising now that there are lots of titles on the open source platform. We now take a closer look at what the gamers prefer to play this week.

A few new games have made their appearance in the top selling list since we last looked at it, and that is very good news. With the exception of a single game that discounted right now, all the other are at the full price, and it's easy to see what Linux games prefer.

It's been a long road, but Linux gaming is finally at a point where this kind of list doesn't differ all that much from its Windows counterpart. There is still room for improvements, but in a few more years, it will no longer be needed to separate them by platform.

Top selling Linux games on Steam for Linux

Pillars of Eternity takes the tenth position, and it's one of the biggest RPG games ever created. It's developed by the famous Obsidian Entertainment studio, and it's been a real hit. Even if it's been out for a few months, it is still being acquired at a rate that brought it to the top.

One of the most played games on Steam is Civilization V, so it's not really a surprise that we see it again in the list of the most sold titles on Linux. It takes the ninth place, and it's even the Sid Meier's Civilization V: Complete Edition, which is sold full price.

Place number eight is occupied by a new game called Windward that is reminiscent of the old Sid Meier's Pirates. It's been around only for a couple of weeks, but it's an open world title, and it's been received very well by the community.

The old physics sandbox Garry's Mod takes number seven. It's not a game, and it's always on the top selling list. Something must be right about this title.

The new Invisible, Inc. game from Klei Entertainment lands on six. If the name of Klei Entertainment sounds familiar, it's because the studio also did the Shank series and Mark of the Ninja.

Kerbal Space Program is finally out of early access, and it's still in the top selling list for more than a year. It's a simulator that challenges players to put a man in orbit. It's not as easy as it sounds, but people did place it on the number five spot.

Rust is an FPS MMO survival game, and it's been a long-time favorite of the community. It's still in Early Access, but that doesn't seem to influence its position on Steam. It's still one of the best sold, and its fourth place is well deserved.

Cities: Skylines is a city sim, much like the Simcity of old times, but better. The fact that it arrived on all the supported platforms at once helped, and the number three position is well deserved.

Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth is in second place, and it's the only one discounted on the list. The 50% discount might have helped it a little but, it's also a good opportunity to buy it right now.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive doesn't need any kind of introduction. The fact that it takes first place should not surprise anyone.
