A key role in this popularity was played by the many different sales and deals offered to users, as the studio takes great pride in its traditional, daily, or weekly discounts.
After the recent Steam Exploration Sale, which celebrated the end of the fall season, the service is set to host its much more impressive and extensive Winter Sale of 2014.
While Valve hasn't offered any details about the upcoming promotion, PayPal Japan, via Reddit, has apparently already started sending out emails to users about the Steam Winter Sale of 2014, confirming that it begins on December 18.
The date falls in line with Valve's tendency to roll out promotions on Thursdays, and considering that last year saw the sale start on December 19, it's pretty obvious that the new date might begin the sale.
