After having confirmed that State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition would debut in late April for the PC and Xbox One, Microsoft now highlights some more features in the revised zombie experience, as well as some screenshots from the new console version.

State of Decay rolled out back in 2013 for the PC and Xbox 360 platforms, and thanks to its popularity, not to mention the commitment of developer Undead Labs to releasing new updates, content, and expansions, Microsoft decided to acquire it and the team.

Last year, the studio confirmed that it was going to debut a State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition onto the PC and Xbox One, and earlier this week an actual release date was pinned onto the revised zombie-killing experience.

Lots of great features are included in the new edition

Now, a few more details about the main features of the game have appeared on the official Xbox Wire, with Microsoft hyping up things like the massive amount of story content that includes not just the regular campaign but also the two different expansions, in the form of Breakdown and Lifeline.

Of course, the visual improvements are also highlighted, as the game now runs at 1080p and benefits from sharper textures to ensure that the open world has a high quality. The new lighting system also makes days feel more vibrant, while night becomes even spookier. The increased draw distance is also going to let players keep a watchful eye on hordes of zombies, instead of just checking their minimap.

However, the improvements don't stop with the visuals, as Microsoft confirms that Undead Labs also made changes to the animation system to make human and zombie characters move more realistically, while an improved interface should make it easier for players to manage their items, use weapons, or make decisions during zombie attacks. Last but not least, a backup weapon is also present in the form of a knife, which becomes available when your melee weapon breaks.

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition is set to debut on April 28 for the PC and Xbox One. Until then, check out the impressive screenshots from the Xbox One version below.
