Blizzard is still unsure about many tweaks

Blizzard is preparing quite a few different changes to the core gameplay of the StarCraft 2's major factions through the upcoming Legacy of the Void installment, and it has just detailed some of them that affect plenty of popular units.

Blizzard surprised quite a lot of people when it revealed many years ago that it was launching the long-awaited StarCraft 2 real-time strategy experience as a three-part episodic series, with installments focusing on each of the three main factions.

After getting Wings of Liberty and then Heart of the Swarm, which focused on the Terran and Zerg races, respectively, fans are now looking forward to Legacy of the Void, which promises to end the saga by looking at the Protoss.

Quite a few big changes are already expected in the new iteration and Blizzard confirms on its official website that some specific units from all the three factions will get sweeping changes once Legacy of the Void appears.

Terran units like HERC or Banshee will get changes

First up, on the Terran side, the HERC is going to be overhauled, as apparently Blizzard doesn't exactly know what to do with the unit in order to make it viable against zerglings or banelings, but also keep it balanced. The studio is still experimenting with possible solutions, so expect some more details soon enough.

Also, the Banshee attack range will be decreased back to 6, as thanks to the speed upgrade option, it's already quite a powerful unit that can seriously impact the early game stage against a Zerg opponent.

The Cyclone ability is going to be autocast in Legacy of the Void, as the studio wants to keep things simple enough for casual players, while still offering options for players who want to micromanage all their different units.

Zerg and Protoss units might get buffed

The studio is a bit more ambiguous when talking about the Zerg units, as it only plans to upgrade the siege range of the Lurker so that it doesn't have a Hive requirement. Meanwhile, the Infestor and the Viper might receive some improvements to specific situations, such as against mass air strategies for the Viper.

Some Protoss units, like the Mothership Core's Photo Overcharge, will get improved, in order to allow it to hit both ground and air at the same time. The Immortal Barrier ability might also become a selectable upgrade, but Blizzard emphasizes that it's still testing out some of these changes.

You can expect to hear much more about the studio’s plans with Legacy of the Void for the core StarCraft 2 gameplay through 2015.
