Some elements of the franchise are sacred

Star Wars Battlefront was officially revealed via a trailer at the Star Wars Celebration, and the development team at DICE has begun to offer more details about the title and its core gameplay mechanics.

Patrick Bach, the leader of the studio, tells Eurogamer that his company is aiming high with the new game and wants to make sure that players see a solid mix of IP and franchise features.

Star Wars Battlefront will not feel like an extensive mod of Battlefield and will have a range of unique elements that will force players to engage with it in new ways.

Customization is one of the elements of the title that DICE wants to promote at the moment, with gamers able to choose the gear, their weapons, and the abilities of their own characters.

This means that they will have a unique presence on the battlefield, but there are some elements of the Star Wars universe that cannot be tweaked in any way, even if the results would be interesting.

Bach states, "You won’t be able to put a pink cape on Darth Vader. That would be easy for us to build, and some people might say that’d be fun, but it's not authentic. That’s how we’re grounding all of the features in the game, including the customization."

Fans will still have a chance to mix alien heads and bodies in new ways for their characters, because the Star Wars universe encourages such experimentation.

Star Wars Battlefront will have classic and innovative elements

DICE has not delivered too many details about the core mechanics of the shooter, which is designed to showcase the variety of the universe.

The video game will have game modes featuring up to 40 players engaged in combat at the same time and will feature familiar hardware like TIE fighters, AT-ATs and X-wings.

New content linked to The Force Awakens will be added for free in order to make sure that no information about the new movie is offered ahead to time.

Star Wars Battlefront will be out on November 17 on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony and those interested can already place a pre-order to get some exclusive content.
