Star Wars Battlefront launches on November 17, a few weeks ahead of the actual "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" movie, and in order to avoid spoiling events, it will get a free DLC called Battle of Jakku on December 8, which references the upcoming film.

Star Wars Battlefront has just received a series of great gameplay details that went in depth about the Walker Assault multiplayer mode and how players will go on epic battles while exploring iconic locations from the Star Wars movies.

Star Wars Battlefront gets Force Awakens DLC after launch for free

As expected, Battlefront will have content that references the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" movie, but seeing as how it launches a few weeks before the actual film, developer DICE and publisher EA want to avoid any major spoilers.

As such, they confirm, via GameInformer, that a special themed DLC based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens is going to appear as a free add-on after launch, on December 8. What's more, those who pre-order the upcoming shooter will get it one week early.

The Force Awakens DLC explores Jakku

The special add-on is called Battle of Jakku, and as its name suggests, it deals with the new desert planet that's going to be introduced in The Force Awakens. The add-on sets the stage for the action of the move, apparently, as DICE mentions that players will have something to do with the crashed Star Destroyer that's already been portrayed by the movie's trailers on Jakku.

Considering Electronic Arts has already made a habit of offering plenty of post-launch DLC for its recent titles, especially through the Premium bundles for the Battlefield games, you can bet that lots of more content for Star Wars Battlefront is going to launch after its actual release.

The game is set to debut on PC, PS4 and Xbox One platforms worldwide on November 17. Expect to see a full fledged gameplay trailer later today.
