Star Wars Battlefront developer DICE wants to give players the chance for them to create their own epic sci-fi battles and to go beyond the action seen in the many movies of the series.

Star Wars Battlefront was confirmed to the world quite a few years ago, but developer DICE and publisher EA declined to offer any concrete details about the new shooter experience that reboots the franchise made originally by Pandemic in the 2000s.

Recently the first official video of the game was presented by DICE and EA, alongside quite a lot of different details about its gameplay, its mechanics, and how it focuses more on multiplayer battles.

Battlefront gives players freedom and expands on the movies

While talking with Polygon, DICE Design Director Niklas Fegraeus confirms that his team had quite a few goals in mind when crafting Battlefront.

First and foremost, the title was set to give players freedom for them to create their own epic battles, but also shed more light on what happened during the movies from the original trilogy, besides the main battles.

"Playing with our toys and creating our own battle fantasies, in our imaginations, that became the vision of Star Wars Battlefront. We want to immerse players in an authentic experience, where you can create your own Star Wars battles. What happens over there in Endor? You don't see it in the movies, but that's what we want explore. We want the game to be bigger than what we see in the movies, yet stay true to it," he explains.

As such, while fans have had mixed opinions about Star Wars Battlefront since its latest video, DICE firmly believes that they'll greatly enjoy the sci-fi shooter.

The new game is scheduled to debut on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in November all around the world. A special DLC focusing on the events of the latest Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie is going to appear as free DLC after launch.
