OlliOlli was quite a hit due to its mix of catchy soundtrack, demanding, dexterity-focused gameplay, and unique visual aesthetic, and now OlliOlli2 is poised to enhance the experience further.

Developer Roll7 offered more details regarding the upcoming arcade video game in a post on the PlayStation Blog, talking about what veterans of the first installment would discover new during their trip to Olliwood.

The developer revealed that it had already completed all user testing and locked around 95 percent of the features in OlliOlli2, and that there was a lot of new stuff for players to get excited about.

The first thing is a change of graphical tone, with all the visuals being now hand-painted and looking much better, especially on bigger screens, than the pixelated graphics of the original.

In addition to this, players will also be pleased to find new and exciting gameplay mechanics, in the form of Manuals and Combos, enabling users to chain together combos like crazy, and greatly increasing the score potential.

The developers also added a new section to the user interface heads-up display, showing the potential score players would get for the current combo, should they achieve a Perfect landing.

In addition to further enhance gameplay, Roll7 also added grind switches, a daring maneuver that enables gamers to switch between two different grind types.

Furthermore, there are now more epic tricks, with longer animation times, as well as massive air gaps to let players pull them off.

A ton of new stuff is coming

The levels themselves will introduce a lot more variety, including curved ground, ramps and rails, bringing about an entirely new flow to the game.

Additionally, there will also be split routes in the levels, but players will have to land a perfect launch on a ramp in order to access them, and there will also be secret paths that they will have to discover for themselves.

Players will also be able to jam and chill in the skatepark level, practicing their moves in a sandbox environment where they can get ready for the real challenges.

Developer Roll7 is getting ready to release the follow-up to 2013's hit arcade skateboarding video game OlliOlli, OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood, sometime during Q1 2015. The game is headed to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita gaming devices from Sony, and for the time being, there is no word on the title's PC version, or any subsequent platforms the game will be releasing on.

The original game, OlliOlli, will also be coming to the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, as well as to the Xbox One home entertainment system from Microsoft, sometime this year.
