“It was an art project” she chose to “feel confident”

Last week, Kim Kardashian nearly broke the Internet with a very revealing spread for Paper Magazine, shot by famed French Photographer Jean-Paul Goude. Now that the Internet is on the mend, Kim would like to remind you the kind of effort and hard work she put in for that spread to happen.

No, she didn’t just ditch the clothes and allow herself to be covered in baby oil, no matter what you think: the Internet can’t be broken as easily as that. It takes hard work and dedication for that to occur, and Kim nearly broke her back in her attempt to #BreakTheInternet.

This isn’t a joke.

An honor, an art project, a sore back

Now that people have stopped talking about Kim’s photospread, or at least they’re no longer raving about it like they did a few days ago, the reality star is doing her best to shine the spotlight on the same topic again.

In a new interview cited by Us Weekly, she explains why she chose to do such a revealing shoot: first of all, she wanted to work with Goude and she considers it an honor that he accepted to photograph her; secondly, she’s did it because she wanted “to do something to make [herself] confident.”

Kim is still trying to play the “I’m as insecure about my body as any other woman out there” card, but you tell us if it’s working.

Then she also says this: “As a role model I’m not saying anyone else should do that, but for me it was an art project and it taught me to do what you want to do. I’m never one to preach, but I felt really positive and really good about myself. I love the photos, I did it for me, I hope other people like them.” The emphasis is ours.

“My back hurt for about a week after that shoot… I used muscles… [Goude] has an art of posing you and it was definitely not comfortable,” Kim continues.

Kim would be less ridiculed if she were honest

So on that list of reasons why she did it, Kim would include at number 3, the fact that she saw the spread as an art project. More hilariously though, she considers herself a role model and isn’t ashamed of labeling herself that in an interview.

As for how badly her back hurt after the shoot, that’s probably her way of trying to make people to see the shoot as a difficult task, one that wasn’t even half as glamourous as it seemed: in Kim’s mind, art isn’t something that’s achieved too easily, you have to invest blood and tears (and baby oil) in it.

If she were honest and admit that she just posed for the magazine because she’s proud of how fit she’s gotten after the birth of her daughter, or because she thought it’d be a good idea if she did something truly outrageous while she still can, people would probably ridicule her far less.

Instead, she tries to put an artsy spin on what is essentially a spread meant to honor her for her big derriere, the ultimate self-flattery for a celebrity who built an entire business empire out of being shallow.

Kim would be harmless if she just owned up to her superficiality, which she’s done a few times before, by the way, and would probably be even more popular if she stopped trying to sell herself as something of superior quality than she actually is.
