There are no plans to use them in the campaign

The upcoming Resident Evil Revelations 2 is interesting because it aims to offer a full game both as an episodic product and as a full retail release, basically allowing fans to choose how they want to enjoy the experience and how they plan to spend their money.

But it seems that some members of the community will have to deal with the fact that Capcom is aiming to introduce a range of microtransactions to the video game, with some players reporting that a full breakdown of the options was offered during a Spanish presentation event.

Now the developers are telling Kotaku in a statement that they are only planning to associate real-world money purchases with the Raid mode and that they will never ask gamers to pay in order to get access to the content.

Capcom explains that “Players can use ‘life crystals’ when playing through Raid mode in Revelations 2. The crystals essentially act as continues (re spawns) in Raid mode when players die. Blue life crystals can be earned through playing daily missions and red life crystals can be bought. The two crystals act the same, but there’s an option to buy if players run out of blue (earned) crystals or don’t want to spend the time earning them.”

When a gamer buys red crystals but has also played to get the blue ones, the latter will be used up first.

Capcom seems to claim that there are no plans to use the real-world money in the core campaign mode of Resident Evil Revelations 2.

Raid will be a big part of Resident Evil Revelations 2

The coming video game is designed to come with 54 Raid missions as part of the first episode, with even more set to be introduced in the other three parts of the game.

Players will have a variety of characters to choose from as they seek to take out enemies as fast and as efficiently as possible and their decisions will also include weapon use and skill deployment.

Initially, Raid in Resident Evil Revelations 2 can only be played solo or in offline cooperative modes, but Capcom says that it will also introduce an online mode after the retail version of the game is out.

At the moment, the first episode of Resident Evil Revelations 2 is set to arrive on February 24 on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and last-gen consoles.
