Insiders confirm that she “changed her look for work”

A new theory on why Renee Zellweger doesn't look anything like Renee Zellweger anymore has emerged. The actress stepped out last week with a completely unrecognizable new face, and people immediately began asking why a famous Hollywood actress would do such radical changes; was it out of boredom, out of the need to keep herself looking young or some other hidden reason?

Keep in mind that the actress has vehemently denied getting any work done on her face and credited her new looks to the aging process and just her happy and stress-free existence. There are many people out there growing old and living happy lives, but you don't see their faces altering dramatically over short periods of time.

Renee's friends explain that she simply wasn't getting any more roles

One insider confirmed that Renee got worked done and also told The Mirror why that was. “The parts started drying up,” the source said, hinting that Renee found it increasingly hard to get work and acting parts.

It's no secret that Hollywood is a place where getting old is not an option. Take a look at any actor over the age of 50 and actress over the age of 40, there are very few who haven't had at least one facial lift done or injected some Botox.

For Renee, the 45-year-old actress, who found fame with roles in movies like “Jerry Maguire,” “Cold Mountain,” “Cinderella Man” and “Chicago,” it's been a while since any good role fell in her lap, so it becomes clear why she chose to drastically alter her visage.

The last time Renee got a major role was back in 2008, 6 years ago

“She wonders what’s wrong with her. She doesn’t know why she isn’t getting the roles she used to,” the insider adds. As an example, the last major role Renee got was way back in 2008, in the movie “Leatherheads,” opposite George Clooney, and that was 6 years ago.

With her new face, Renee hopes that she will attract not only the attention of the public, but also the attention of the agents, who will presumably start knocking on her door again.

For the moment, Renee has been left with the anger of the public, who has blasted her for denying that she's had any plastic surgery done on her face. The backlash would have probably been a lot smaller if Zellweger had admitted that she at least had some fillers or some Botox, which she obviously has.

Her explanation to People Magazine was that “I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows.”
