Ru Weerasuriya, founder, chief executive officer and creative director of Ready at Dawn, makers of the upcoming The Order: 1886, tried to address some of the gaming community's concerns over the length of the game.

The upcoming action-adventure video game has a distinct cinematic flavoring, and relies heavily on custcenes and quick time events. In addition to this, several reports emerged online, claiming that the game can be completed in only a handful of hours.

Gamers all around the world expressed worries regarding the amount of gameplay in the game and its nature, and after the reports popped up, everyone was waiting for developer Ready at Dawn to step up and comment on the matter.

What's worse, a YouTube user uploaded what they claim was the entirety of the game on the video sharing website, amounting to a total of five and a half hours, which would be extremely disappointing, if true.

Weerasuriya decided to tackle those concerns indirectly during a recent interview with Eurogamer, stating that the allegations regarding the game's length being three to five hours were simply not true.

He did not, however, provide any actual time frame for the expected duration of the single-player campaign, and cited Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as a shining example of a short campaign that served the game very well.

A focus on quality, not quantity

He further added that the studio's focus was on quality, not quantity, and that the creation of such a diverse experience, with a variety of gameplay mechanics, took its toll on the 120-man studio, as it required much more effort than a simple, straight-up third-person shooter.

The Order: 1886 focuses on a powerful narrative and some incredible visuals, but if the game turns out to actually take five hours to complete, it will no doubt disappoint a lot of people. Gamers buy Call of Duty entirely for the multiplayer, and the single-player campaign is more of a bonus that people complain about for a short while, before sinking countless hours into the game's multiplayer mode.

The Order: 1886 is coming out on February 20, worldwide, headed exclusively to the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system from Sony.
