Ubisoft is apparently trying to streamline its pre-order process, by offering closed beta access as an incentive for those who pre-purchase the upcoming Rainbow Six: Siege.

The upcoming first-person shooter is a team-based affair that aims to take the franchise back to its tactical roots.

The basic premise is that two teams of players have a set pre-match interval during which the bad guys have to board up the map and set up defensive measures, and the good guys gather intel using remote-controlled buggies with mounted cameras.

After the initial fortification / surveillance phase, the SWAT team will have to breach the perimeter while the villains do their best to counter the police force's strategy, complete with a ton of innovative features.

One of the most notable things in the gameplay videos showcased so far has been the truly great destruction engine that Rainbow Six: Siege uses, that enables gamers to blow holes into walls and to use them as new vantage points, which introduces a completely different dynamic when it comes to guarding choke points and breaching them.

Pre-order the game to get an early taste of the action

Ubisoft revealed earlier this year that the game would be getting an alpha test on PC, for which you can sign up on the game's website, should you be interested.

Now, a user on reddit reports having spotted a poster in a GameStop store, stating that pre-orders of the game would come bundled with guaranteed access to the closed beta test scheduled for later on this year.

This would indicate that Ubisoft is joining the growing trend of spicing up pre-order offers with closed beta access, which is a definite step up from its earlier practices, such as the Watch Dogs pre-order debacle, when there were so many only slightly different options that the company had to make a chart so potential buyers wouldn't get confused.

Furthermore, VideoGamer reports that the publisher confirmed that pre-orders of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege would come with guaranteed closed beta, meaning that the offer is not a retailer-exclusive one.

Rainbow Six: Siege is coming out during FY2016, headed to the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
