Rygel, an open-source home media solution that allows users to easily share all kinds of multimedia files to various UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) devices has been recently updated to version 0.25.3 as part of the GNOME 3.16 Release Candidate desktop environment.

According to the raw changelog, Rygel 0.25.3 brings style fixes, code cleanup, and uses framerate in PlaySpeed response in the Server component, addresses the new resource handling in the Tracker component, and introduces GObject introspection support to the GStreamer Renderer component.

The Renderer component received the most changes, including a fix for the GetProtocolInfo output, support for correctly escaping state variables, addition of "Connection: close" in the HEAD request to the server, two fixes for some issues with the service pointer in ChangeLog and AVTransport, and a fix for AV1-MR:1-AVT:1-6.1.

Many translations have been updated in this unstable Rygel version

In addition to the above, Rygel 0.25.3 now presents users with an error on incorrect playback transitions. This has been implemented in the Renderer component of the software. Furthermore, the user interface can now be compiled with recent versions of the Vala compiler and GLib.ListStore library.

Last but not least, several language translations have been updated in this unstable version of the Rygel media center, including Greek, Czech, Galician, Danish, Korean, Hungarian, Polish, Lithuanian, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Serbian, Serbian Latin, Slovak, Slovenian, Chinese Traditional, English UK, Turkish, and Bosnian.

You can download Rygel 0.25.3 right now from Softpedia. Once again, we remind you that this is an unstable piece of software that should not be installed on production machines. Also, only the source code is provided, which you will have to compile in your Linux OS. The stable Rygel 0.26.0 release will be distributed along with the GNOME 3.16 desktop environment.
