14 DAY TRIAL // Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling welcomed their daughter, their first child together, about 3 months ago, but they’re already going through such a rough patch that many insiders believe they will not last as a couple for much longer.
Apparently, they’re living separate lives right now, with Ryan away on work and Eva at home caring for the baby, which further drives a wedge between them. They had been having problems long before Esmeralda Amada was born, and the distance is only making them worse.
“Eva has pushed him away”
Eva is now in Los Angeles, where, as per her own words, she’s caring for her daughter with help from grandmothers and aunts, but not nannies. She said this when she spoke to Ellen DeGeneres in her first interview since the pregnancy, but she didn’t mention Ryan by name and didn’t even imply that he was helping out.
That’s because he isn’t, sources reveal for OK! Magazine, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Ryan has been away to Georgia, where he’s shooting a new movie called “The Nice Guys,” for some time, having left shortly after the birth. Rumor has it that they’d been having problems for some time, so when he left for work so soon, Eva considered it as an act of bailing out on her.
She’s not happy about it.
“It’s more than just run-of-the-mill stress that comes with having a newborn. They’re barely talking. Eva has pushed him away,” an insider explains.
A split is imminent
The same report claims that Gosling told Eva that she could take baby Esmeralda and just come to visit to Georgia and hang out with him when he’s not working, but she scoffed at the idea, saying he could commute from LA to the set instead.
This means less time for Ryan and his daughter, and even less for him and Eva, and things between them are deteriorating fast. As per the same insiders, Eva knows that a split is imminent and she’s also convinced that she should get full custody because she’s the primary hands-on parent, while he is all the time away on work.
However, since they’re not married, a judge is likely to give her that either way.
One of the most low-key couples in showbiz
Ryan and Eva started dating sometime in 2011, after starring together in “The Place Beyond the Pines” and falling in love on set. For many months afterwards, they refused to take questions on the state of their relationship and even went to great lengths to keep it a secret.
Eventually, hounded around the clock by the paparazzi (because Ryan is considered one of the hottest bachelors in showbiz), they gave up and started going out as a couple.
However, their biggest feat was when they managed to keep the pregnancy a secret for several months. Not even when rumors of Eva being with child started circulated, sometime in her 4th month, did they confirm it or allow the actress to be photographed by the paparazzi.
Eva told Ellen in the aforementioned interview that this was their way of giving Esmeralda the best start in life, by respecting her right to privacy.
