Rumor has it that Microsoft might prepare two new devices

In addition to Windows 10 and Windows 10 for phones, Microsoft might also be working on two new devices that would help the company expand in the hardware industry and thus become more relevant in this side of the business, where it's still pretty much behind all rivals.

Rumors swirling around the web, but which we cannot confirm right now, suggest that Microsoft might be working on a new flagship phone that could be based on Surface design and technology.

This wouldn't be the first time we hear about a Surface phone, but things are apparently getting a little bit more serious, as Microsoft is looking at the Surface Pro 3 in order to design a high-end device that would truly become a powerful rival for top Samsung and Apple devices.

Details are not yet available right now and it's easy to see why: this is pure speculation for the moment, and although a Surface-branded phone could make sense for some, don't be too surprised if Microsoft doesn't actually allow such a device go through. Lumia is currently Microsoft's key priority, so a Surface phone might not be part of its plans in the coming years.

Surface Mini tablet

Another project that some people claim Microsoft is already working on is a small tablet that would come with an 8-inch screen and possibly called Surface Mini.

Once again, this wouldn't be the first time when Microsoft is looking at the small tablet market and the Surface Mini was already prepared for a 2014 launch, but the company is apparently more interested in bringing it to the market in 2015 because of the new features available on this device.

Sources have indeed confirmed for us that Microsoft is at least considering bringing the Surface Mini out in 2015, but specifics have not been provided.

Previous rumors on this indicated that the Surface Mini would be launched as a note-taking device working with a digital pen similar with the one on the Surface Pro 3.

Obviously, it would be specifically addressed to artists, teachers, and students, and would be offered at a fairly affordable price to make it available to more customers.
