At some point last month we told you the upcoming Snapdragon 810 chip was faced with some production issues. And that this situation could bring about repercussions related to numerous new flagship devices.

The chipset was introduced back in April 2014, but we are yet to see the platform arrive in a real life product. At CES 2015, LG introduced the G Flex 2 bendy smartphone which draws life from this particular SoC.

The handset is expected to go on sale later this month in South Korea, so we have to assume the chip is set and ready to start doing the job it has been created for.

The Snapdragon 810 was said to be plagued by overheating and RAM controller faults, but quickly after the report, Qualcomm made an official statement saying plans remained on track.

LG G Flex 2 with Snapdragon 810 coming in a few weeks, or isn't it?

So now that the LG G Flex 2 is out and about, we should be certain the Snapdragon 810 has made it on time. Or shouldn't we?

As reported by Barron, rumors that Qualcomm’s new chip is faced with several problems just won’t go away, as analysts claim that the Snapdragon 810 is still a few months behind from where it’s supposed to be.

What’s the problem? As mentioned before, the SoC is apparently afflicted by serious overheating issues. The Snapdragon 615 is also mentioned in the story, but since the Snapdragon 810 is the higher-profile model, the stakes are a lot higher when it comes to it.

You might remember that the Snapdragon 615 was also said to be delayed, not so long ago. While these problems will certainly find a fix, this could mean the two models won’t be ready to get going until April of May.

So what does this mean for the industry’s upcoming flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC Hima, LG G4 or Sony Xperia Z4?

Well, Samsung might doge a bullet by focusing on the Exynos variant of the Galaxy S6, but what about the others? The companies will probably be forced to delay the commercial launch until a later date. But how late is too late?
