Jack Whitehall, a British comedian, found himself being confronted by none other than Prince William after his stand-up routine included a confession that he had a soft spot for the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

The normally benevolent Prince, who has never ever been heard raising his voice, was reportedly none too happy about the comments the comedian made and decided to confront Whitehall after the show, since he was in the audience.

Whitehall was doing a gig at the Royal Variety Performance last week and may not have thought his jokes all the way through when he referred to Kate Middleton as “the one that got away.” The Prince and his wife laughed at the time at the joke, but that didn't spare Whitehall a visit backstage from the Prince after the show.

Speaking on the Jonathan Ross Show in the U.K. Today, the comedian revealed that he was surprised to be face to face with the Prince, who came up to him in a “very passive-aggressive” manner and said “Oh, so you were flirting with my missus? Oh no that was very funny!”

It's hard to say if the Prince was really “passive-aggressive”

Of course, since we're talking about a comedian here, it's hard to believe that the account is entirely true or just not blown out of proportion. Whitehall went on to reveal that he was only joking on his routine as he was anyway too young for Kate, but that he did have a crush on her.

Jack Whitehall and Kate Middleton went to the same private school in the UK and that's when the comedian became enamored with the girl who was going to become the future Duchess of Cambridge.

“She was a lot older than me,” the funny man admits on the talk show quoted by People, adding “She was in sixth form – it was never going to happen, I was in a head brace!”

The Prince and Duchess are expected to make a historical trip to the United States next month, during which they will be also attending an NBA game, the first British royals to do so. It was rumored for a while that the NBA had paid one million to their charity in return for this visit, but that was later proved wrong by sources connected to the story.

Buckingham Palace has already prepared for the couple's visit in America and released a statement regarding the special dress code for journalists who will want to speak with the royals: “Smart attire for men includes the wearing of a jacket and tie, and for women a trouser or skirt suit.”

It also added that “Those wearing jeans or trainers will not be admitted and casually dressed members of the media will be turned away.”
