This is what Microsoft’s own smartwatch could look like

Microsoft is reportedly readying its very own smartwatch and could announce its launch in the coming weeks, but only little is known so far about this particular project.

While people close to the matter have told us that Redmond is actually planning to bring the smartwatch to the market before Apple’s, it appears that Microsoft quietly tried to provide us with a short glimpse at the device it plans to launch before Christmas.

The alleged Microsoft smartwatch showed up on the US TV series “Agents of SHIELD,” and according to some sources, this is exactly what the device is going to look like, even though there doesn’t seem to be any Microsoft or Windows logo on its case.

The smartwatch was first spotted by Twitter user @ErdimTanyeri, who also posted a short video from the TV show which was aired during the weekend.

Fitness band-like design

As you can see for yourselves, Microsoft’s smartwatch comes with the look of a fitness band and is based on a sleek design which would also include touch capabilities.

The smartwatch would also play the role of a fitness tracker and provide all kinds of details about your exercises, thus helping the wearer keep an eye on their physical shape. Options such as heartbeat tracker and blood-glucose monitor have also been rumored to be on the feature list.

Obviously, there are a lot of vague details right now all over the web, mostly because Microsoft is keeping all information on it secret, but there’s no doubt that such a device is in the works as we speak and could see daylight in the coming months.

Two-day battery and cross-platform compatibility

Microsoft is reportedly working to make the smartwatch pretty advanced in terms of battery, and sources say that the device should last at least two days with a single charge.

At the same time, the company is also planning to make its smartwatch work not only with Windows Phone handsets but also with those running iOS or Android.

This decision makes a lot of sense given the current market share of Windows Phone in the United States, a market where both iOS and Android are gaining better sales as compared to Microsoft’s mobile platform.

The smartwatch is very likely to be presented by Microsoft in the coming weeks, but sales could only begin before Christmas, in an attempt to make the most of the holiday season. Microsoft reportedly wants to launch a smartwatch before Apple, as the Cupertino-based company will start shipping its Watch in early 2015.
