Plex, an Android application that allows users to organize their video, music and photo collections and stream them to other screens, has just received an update.

Plex has more than 1 million downloads in Google Play Store and is available for free, but in order to unlock its full potential, you will need a Plex Pass subscription.

Also, a small one-time in-app purchase could also give users access to additional features that are not available in the free version of Plex.

Anyway, since this is one of the most popular Android applications that can organize all your media and stream it to your screens, developers have thought it would be great to win even more users by adding new features and improvements.

The latest update for Plex brings a few new features that will offer a much better user experience to Android fans. Furthermore, the latest version of Plex for Android includes lots of bug fixes as well.

Better user experience and lots of fixes

The most important new feature included in the update is the new “Discover” mode for libraries, which is an easy and smart way to browse your content.

More improvements include “Video,” “Experience,” and “Account” preference categories, which are now saved separately for each user. Also, the update is supposed to improve active player dialog with better UI and the new “open remote controller” option.

As mentioned earlier, the update also contains lots of bug fixes. You can find them listed below, but these are only the most important ones:

- Improve efficiency of server / player discovery; - Fix a memory leak when casting media to another device; - Fix crash during Google Play purchase flow; - Fix an Airplay crash when media was about to start; - Better library management in navigation menu when switching servers; - Rearrange library picker items for consistency with other clients; - Change album and photo thumbnails to make them square as in other platforms; - Upgrade Experimental player to resolve memory leaks.

You can now download Plex for Android 4.2 for free via Google Play store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 3.2 and up.
