Plex Media Server 0.9.12.0 is now available for download

The modern and powerful Plex Media Server, a free and cross-platform media server software for GNU/Linux, BSD, OS X, and Microsoft Windows platforms, has been updated recently to version 0.9.12.0.

According to the internal release notes, Plex Media Server 0.9.12.0 brings massive speed improvements to the built-in Web server, adds the Similar Artists section, introduces support for upcoming concert dates for artists, and adds a new hub called Recently Viewed Episodes.

Support for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 audio transcoding has been introduced as well, along with Plex Mix and Vevo videos for Plex Pass users, music videos for artists and tracks, and support for importing playlist count when adding files from iTunes.

Furthermore, Plex Media Server 0.9.12.0 adds a Track rating filter, a new hub for home videos called Continue Watching, multi-disc support, two music video hubs, track filter for moods for Plex Pass users, and support for filtering albums by studio.

Several bugs have been squashed in Plex Media Server 0.9.12.0

As expected, several bugs have been fixed as well. Such as a few hubs crashes, issues with the 64-bit version of iTunes for Windows, server performance issues with App Nap under OS X, and clearing of playlist composite when playlists are created.

In addition, Plex Media Server no longer scans the file system for changes immediately after starting up, unused taggings and tags are now deleted during database maintenance, the play queue creation and other endpoints received speed improvements.
