Mostly European users have been reporting issues

Some users have been reporting that they are currently having problems accessing the PlayStation Network from both the PlayStation 4 and the PS3, and Sony is saying that it is investigating reports but is unsure about the scale of the issue.

Chris Owen, who is a community manager working at PlayStation Europe, writes on the official Twitter account that his team has been aware of the login troubles for about two hours and that they are trying to pinpoint their cause.

At the moment, no information is offered on how many users are affected or whether only those in Europe have to deal with the issue. It isn't clear either when a full solution might be deployed.

The timing for the PlayStation Network problems is unfortunate because Sony has just announced a major promotion, which is offering all those who spend 100 dollars (76 Euro) in the official store access to a bonus of 15 dollars (10 Euro) as long as they make their transactions between today and October 28.

The company aims that the offer will increase overall game sales on its platforms, which have been a little lower than publishers were expecting since the current generation of hardware has been introduced in November of last year.
