The team at Sony in charge of the Project Morpheus virtual reality device for the PlayStation 4 did not get a lot of stage time during the Sony E3 2015 presentation, but the company has since introduced some of the titles that will be delivered for the new hardware in 2016.

Kokoromi says that its first VR project will be called SuperhyperCube and will deliver a color-focused experience to show gamers how the tech can be used to provide an experience that would not be possible on normal monitors hooked up to a PS4.

The company says they were inspired by movies ranging from 2001: A Space Odyssey to Xanadu and Blade Runner and that the mechanics will be surprising.

Headmaster is another virtual reality project, this time focused on football and on a combination of physical actions and arcade games.

This second game is also created for the Project Morpheus concept and will apparently be a launch title.

Finally, Harmonix is working on a new game called Music VR, which is designed to get a track that the player submits in order to create a custom experience around it.

The development team states, "The resulting experiences range from subtly magical to outright psychedelic, depending on the world you select. Sometimes fireflies show up to compliment a relaxing melody, and sometimes stars descend to engulf you in synesthetic spirals of color. It’s definitely weird."

Project Morpheus does not have an official launch date

Sony has not yet said when the virtual reality solution for the PlayStation 4 will be out, other than explaining that it is targeting the spring of next year.

No information has yet been offered about its price or the number of video games and other experiences that will be released alongside it.

Sony is facing a lot of competition in the virtual reality space, with Valve and HTC already confirming that they will deliver the Vive solution before the end of the year, although software support is unclear at the moment.

Project Morpheus will also arrive in early 2016, and the company has announced that it has entered a deal with Microsoft to offer an Xbox One controller, a special adapter, and streaming capabilities in the consumer version.
