Sony Online Entertainment confirms that it's planning on adding support in the PlanetSide 2 PS4 beta for the console's Share function as well as for live streaming, so that participants can easily show others what they're doing in the multiplayer shooter.

PlanetSide 2 has amassed a loyal following on the PC platform, as Sony Online Entertainment has kept the free-to-play shooter up to date with constant patches, as well as with new features, mechanics, or content.

This week saw the debut of the PlanetSide 2 closed beta on the PS4 platform, as SOE is quite eager to bring the online shooter to the popular console. Unfortunately, the game is still far from its final release as the company wants to gather feedback on mechanics, visuals, the interface, and much more.

The current beta doesn't support PS4 Share

Besides that, the beta also lacks quite a few inherent features seen in other PS4 games, such as the ability to Share screenshots or videos recorded during the actual game, or stream your current session.

According to SOE's Executive Producer for PlanetSide 2, Clint Worley, there is a plan to enable the Share system and the streaming mechanic in the future. He explains that closed beta participants are allowed to share their thoughts and materials with PlanetSide 2 on the PS4, and those who can live stream the game by connecting the console to a PC can do so without any potential punishment.

However, the easy system built into the PS4 won't be available until Sony's PlayStation team gives the go-ahead for PlanetSide 2.

"We're talking about opening that up later," Worley tells GameZone about the PS4 Share system. "We know that there are fans that are streamers out there. We know that there are people on Twitch that pull their console feed through their PC. So we're not worried about anything getting out there, it's just that we wanted to make sure everything tightened up on the Sony side."

The PlanetSide 2 closed beta is currently available to invited players only in North America and should appear in Europe in the following weeks. SOE already made it clear that it wants to open up the testing process to more PS4 owners but, right now, it can't be done all at once.
