Sony announced yesterday that it would kick off the PlayStation 4 PlanetSide 2 closed beta on January 20. However, it looks like only players in the United States will be able to play the game from that date, though Sony wasn’t specific on the matter.

One PlanetSide 2 fan from Germany asked developers whether or not he is eligible for PlanetSide 2 closed beta considering his location. The game’s executive producer Clint Worley answered by saying that the European closed beta will be “slightly delayed.”

While he did not provide too many details on the reasons for this delay, he did say that Europeans should go ahead and register for the closed beta through the game’s official website. Here is Worley’s full statement:

“We are working on our SCEE Beta submission. It will be slightly delayed but it is on its way. Once we have a confirmed date we will let our SCEE players know. I would still recommend signing up for the Beta via our webpage just to be sure.”

Europeans should still sign up for the beta just in case

Clint Worley also took the time to answer a few more questions on PlayStation Blog, so if you’re wondering whether or not you’ll be able to transfer your PC character on PlayStation 4, then you should know that it’s been confirmed that this will not be possible. Apparently, developers “want the playing field to be level when the game starts on the PlayStation 4.”

He also mentioned that the PlayStation version of PlanetSide 2 wouldn’t have support for keyboard and mouse. Instead developers claim they have been working on making it a great gameplay experience with the Dualshock 4 controller.

Once the closed beta kicks off on PlayStation 4, players will be able to test PlanetSide 2 controls and offer their feedback through the beta forums. Developers also said that they would be constantly doing playtests and tweak controls to make them easier to use and intuitive.
