The development team at Obsidian might be putting the finishing touches on Pillars of Eternity at the moment, but the studio has also been offering gamers extended looks at the actual mechanics of the role-playing game series, with a new major set of videos designed to explore both the main features of the combat and the lore of the new universe.

The footage attached to this article features developers Jesse Cox and Josh Sawyer showing highlights from the entire stream, but gamers can click on the playlist to get access to a more extensive version.

Pillars of Eternity is designed to evoke the classic Infinity Engine titles and takes place in a game universe which has been built from the ground up by the team at Obsidian, using both some classic fantasy elements and some unique twists.

The title is designed to be played with a party of characters that can be recruited and will react to all the actions that the player takes, while the combat is designed to be focused on tactics.

Pillars of Eternity is set to be launched on the PC, with some publishing duties assigned to Paradox Interactive, in the first few months of 2015, after being initially set to arrive this year.
