14 DAY TRIAL // 65-year-old Christian Poincheval, a flatulence aficionado currently living in France, claims to have developed a one-of-a-kind pill that has the power to make your average Joe or Jane's farts smell like chocolate or flowers.
The pill, currently available on Pilulepet, is said to be a 100% natural invention. It comes with a price tag of €9.99 (about $12.5) for a jar containing 60 pieces, and by the looks of it, folks have taken quite a liking to it.
Possibly the wackiest pills ever
As mentioned, Christian Poincheval's Lutin Malin line of pills is supposedly made of 100% natural ingredients. More precisely, the inventor says that the recipe for these pills includes vegetable coal, cocoa zest, fennel and seaweed.
The 65-year-old claims that his pills are perfectly safe. Thus, he explains that they have been approved by health authorities and that folks need not worry about any potential negative side effects.
Mind you, the pills that supposedly make flatulence smell like chocolate were launched earlier this year, just in time for the Christmas season. The ones that make farts smell like roses or violets, on the other hand, have been around for quite a while now.
Thus, Mashable tells us that, after spending about 6 years developing them, Christian Poincheval first started marketing the flower-scented pills back in 2006. Seeing how he is still selling them, it's safe to assume that they've proven quite successful.
In fact, the 65-year-old French inventor says that he currently sells several hundred jars of such magical, wondrous pills on a monthly basis. Otherwise put, the pills have turned out to be a brilliant source of income.
“I have all sorts of customers,” the man told the press in a recent interview. “Some buy them because they have problems with flatulence and some buy them as a joke to send to their friends. Christmas always sees a surge in sales,” he added.
How it all started
The French inventor says that he got the idea to develop such pills several years ago when, while hanging out with friends, he could not help but notice that their farts were way worse when meat was included in their diet than they were when they were vegetarians.
Having figured out that a person's dietary preferences influence their flatulence for the better or for the worse, 65-year-old Christian Poincheval and his buddies got busy trying to come up with a remedy for what they considered to be utterly disgusting smells. Eventually, they developed these pills.
As explained by inventor, “When we were vegetarian, we noticed that our gas smelled like vegetables, like the odor from a cow pat, but when we started eating meat the smell of the flatulence became much disagreeable. Me and my friends decided something had to be done.”
Mind you, it's still a mystery whether or not these wacky pills can in fact make flatulence smell like chocolate or roses. Then again, one has to admit that, even if they fail to work as promised, they can make for one very interesting Christmas present.
