The present release fixes some issues to allow the Activity tracking apps for Pebble to work perfectly in the background

Pebble has rolled out a new firmware update developed for its smartwatches, namely version 2.6, which allows users to set shortcuts from a watchface to their favorite applications by pressing and holding the Up or Down buttons.

However, owners will have to enable the Quick Launch feature and only afterwards set the shortcuts from the settings menu.

Besides this change, the 2.6 firmware also adds some workarounds that allow the activity tracking apps for Pebble (such as Jawbone, Misfit, or Swim) to work perfectly in the background. Also, an Activity icon will be displayed in the Pebble menu when an app is installed and running.

When it comes to improvements, Pebble’s update enhances the Battery icon so that it is now persistent within the menus, and also keeps the “Select” button’s behavior that dismisses notifications on the paired Android and iOS devices.

Bear in mind that, for iOS 7 and lower, as well as for Android platforms, the notification area is cleared only on the paired device. If we’re talking about iOS 8, this combination dismisses notifications on both the phone/tablet and the smartwatch.

As for upgrading to version 2.6, just like with the previous Pebble Smartwatch Firmware 2.5, make sure you download the correct package. The producer has made available one package for the Steel device, and two files for its other devices (depending on whether the SN starts with “Q” or a number).

With this in mind, download Pebble SmartWatch Firmware 2.6 or download Pebble Steel SmartWatch Firmware 2.6 and apply it on your device to benefit from these changes. Also, constantly check our website in order to be aware when a new software is available.
