14 DAY TRIAL // Overkill Software and 505 Games confirm that Payday 2: Crimewave Edition is finally going to arrive onto the PS4 and Xbox One new-generation platforms this June, bringing with it a 1080p native resolution, not to mention more than a year's worth of downloadable content and updates at no extra charge.
Payday 2 launched way back in 2013, delighting millions of fans across the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms with its cooperative heist mechanics and first-person shooter system. Since then, a myriad of updates and downloadable content have been released by developer Overkill, particularly on the PC platform, where it was able to interact much more easily with fans.
Last year, Overkill announced that a special Payday 2: Crimewave Edition was going to launch for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles, so that all fans of the series could enjoy the multiplayer experience.
Start your crimewave in June
Now, 505 and Overkill confirm that Payday 2: Crimewave Edition is set to roll out this June onto the new consoles.
This fresh version of the game brings forth not just the original experience that released onto the PC, PS3, or Xbox 360, but also all of the updates and paid DLC packs that have since been launched for the actual experience. From the Big Bank Heist to the Clover female character, there will be plenty of new things awaiting fans.
"The continuation of the Payday saga on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is going to be awesome. With improved frame rate, greater looking textures, 1080p resolution and more than a year worth of updates included in the game at launch, robbing banks together has never looked as sweet," Bo Andersson Klint, CEO of Overkill parent company Starbreeze AB, says.
Pre-orders are available and come with extra goodies
PS4 and Xbox One owners are able to pre-order the game from retail stores but also from the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live online services, where they'll get a 25% discount until launch. Those who pre-purchase will get the Hard Time Loot Bag DLC, which includes a red dot weapon sight for all rifles, an exclusive skull mask, not to mention one that's themed on either the PS4 or Xbox One, plus a few other goodies and in-game cash.
