He wanted to spend more time with his daughter, Meadow

Paul Walker was killed in a one-vehicle crash in November 2013, during the Thanksgiving break from the production of the seventh “Fast & Furious” movie, which was eventually completed without him, with his brothers standing in for him.

Ironically, his grieving father reveals in a new interview with the Daily Mail, at the time he died after losing control of his fast car and driving into a tree, Paul had already decided to ditch fast cars in favor of surfing, and Hollywood for his daughter, Meadow.

Paul wasn’t into being a celebrity

Paul Walker Sr. tells the British publication that, even though it’s been a year since he lost his son, it’s not getting any easier. The knowledge that Paul wanted to leave everything behind for his daughter, which would have meant more time at home with him too, only makes the grieving process more difficult, Mr. Walker admits.

The world needs to know that Paul wasn’t a celebrity, so he was never attracted to Hollywood in the way most players there are: he just did movies because he needed work, he loved his job but didn’t really appreciate being a star and playing the game by the rules.

But he loved his fans unconditionally, Mr. Walker immediately adds. Paul knew that he owed them everything, so he was always eager to oblige them when they approached him to ask for photos or autographs.

Everything else was just noise to him, something that came with his decision to be an actor, something he had to live with even if he didn’t like it.

Paul didn’t want any more “Fast & Furious” movies, wanted out

According to Mr. Walker Sr., his son had had enough of the “Fast & Furious” films, after being a part of the franchise since it kicked off in 2001. The studio confirmed the other day that they would be making at least 3 more movies after the seventh, but had Paul been alive, he would have probably opted out of them.

“Paul was planning on taking a break from starring in movies, and stepping away from Hollywood, to spend more time with Meadow,” Mr. Walker says. “He was so proud of her, she is incredibly intelligent and beautiful, and Paul wanted to be there for her as she grew up.”

Meadow is Paul’s 15-year-old daughter with his ex. He had obtained custody of her some time before he died, when her mother admitted to relapsing into addiction, which made her an unsuitable parent. Rumor online has it that Paul was “torn” to be spending so much time apart from his daughter, who was left in his mother’s care while he was away working.

According to his dad, this had made him decide to hang his acting cap and retire. He was also thinking of selling his expensive cars because he had rediscovered how much he loved the ocean.

Paul Walker was 40 when he died. His good friend and business partner Roger Rodas was killed in the same crash: Rodas was driving and Walker was in the passenger seat.
