Users are reporting issues when trying to get it

Sony has just rolled out a brand new system software update for the PlayStation 4 console, in the form of firmware patch 2.04, but it seems that some issues are already being caused by it, as many people aren't able to download or install it. Sony, meanwhile, recommends users to restart the console in Safe mode and rebuild its database.

The PlayStation 4 console has been around for over a year now and Sony's made sure to keep its system software updated with all the most recent fixes through its now-infamous stability patches but also with fresh features that enhance its set of already-impressive options.

PS4 firmware update 2.04 is now live

Now, a brand new firmware update for the PS4 has just been released worldwide, which takes its system software up to version 2.04.

In classic Sony style, there are no actual details available about the update, so it's unclear if it brings any new features or just once again enhances the stability of the console while running certain games or applications.

Issues have started popping up

However, one thing is clear: not all PS4 consoles can update to the new firmware, as many users are complaining about different errors and issues, while not being able to even connect to the PlayStation Network online service.

Sony's AskPlayStation Twitter account is currently working hard on replying to all the different errors, and a few solutions have been highlighted.

First up, those who can't connect to the PSN should disconnect their router and the console from their power sources for about three minutes, reconnect them, and then try again to go online.

Those who aren't successful should put their console into safe mode. This can be done by shutting it down and then pressing and holding the power button. You can release it after hearing two beeps. You'll have to connect the DualShock 4 controller with a USB cable to actually use the console.

In the Safe mode, you need to select the "Rebuild Database" option, which should be number 5. This makes the console scan the hard drive and create a new database of all the content on it. Depending on how full your drive is, it might take quite some time.

As of yet, no other details are available about the PS4 firmware update 2.04 or why exactly its rollout is causing all these problems.
