PHOTTIX has just made available the 1.03 and 1.04 firmware packages targeted at its Mitros and Mitros+ for Sony TTL flashes, respectively, which resolve the flash head’s overheat protection issue and improves the battery stability.

That being said, if you intend to make use of these fixes, then you should definitely take into account a firmware upgrade.

In order to do this properly, first save and unzip the appropriate archive for your device and system platform. PHOTTIX has provided two downloadable files, one compatible with Mac OS X platforms (except for Mavericks), and the other targeted at Window XP, 7, and 8 operating systems.

Now run the “Phottix Mitros PC Upgrade” file from the newly extracted folder, connect the TTL flash to the computer using a USB cable, turn on the Mitros unit, and wait for the device to be recognized.

Afterwards, click the “Version” icon, and if it isn’t either newer or matching the present release, click the “Software” image, navigate and select the .FDS file, and allow the wizard to perform the installation.

Upon completion, an “Update OK” message should be displayed on the LCD. At this point you must simply remove the USB cable from the TTL flash, and you’re good to go.

Therefore, in order to perform the upgrade, download PHOTTIX Mitros TTL Flash for Sony Firmware 1.03 or download PHOTTIX Mitros+ TTL Flash for Sony Firmware 1.04, take into account all steps described above, and install the latest software on your flash.
