Google now allows you to search for your missing phone

It happens to the best of us. Sometimes you just can’t remember where you put your Android phone, so you spend minutes looking for it in restless agony.

Worry no more, as Google wants to help you locate your estranged device even faster, so it is now allowing you to search for your phone from a desktop computer.

What you need to do is open your PC, access a browser, go to Google search and ask it to “find my phone.” However, you need to bear in mind that for this setup to work, you will need to have the latest version of the Google app installed on your handset.

Google offers another way to find your estranged device

Once you type the words above in the search query, a map should appear showing you exactly where the phone is located. You also have the option to “Ring” the phone and Google will make your device ring at maximum volume for 5 minutes, so if you haven’t forgotten it at the gym, you’ll probably hear it.

If you are the owner of an Android Wear smartwatch, you too have the possibility to locate your missing wearable by asking Google to “find my watch.” The service works in a similar fashion.

This setup might sound familiar to some users, and that’s because Google rolled out a tool called Android Device Manager back in August 2013. The website and app helps users find lost phones and tablets that run Android 2.2 Froyo or above pretty much in the same fashion we described above - they either ring it or show their location on the map.

Android Device Manager helps find missing phones too

In case your phone has been stolen or truly lost, Android Device Manager also gives you the option to erase all the data from your device, so it doesn't end up in the wrong hands.

Device Manager is also available on Android Wear, and Google revealed that the app/website helped reunite more than 30 million users with their phones or tablets so far.

Well, now Google is offering you the choice to go on Google.com on your desktop and locate your missing gadget. Whatever seems easier for you.
