It takes only three minutes to create the app

They say that the lack of apps is one of the biggest problems right now for both Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1, but for those using the desktop, this was never a problem. And this is mostly because creating apps for Windows is not at all that difficult.

Living proof is this little project put together by developer Elmer Morales, who has recently posted a video on YouTube to demonstrate that it takes only 3 minutes to build a new Facebook Messenger app for Windows.

If you missed this week’s news, Facebook launched a web-based version of Messenger for its social network that allows registered users to chat with their contacts just with their browsers. The web-based Facebook Messenger works pretty much in the same way that WhatsApp Web does, so everyone should be able to get around it very fast.

But as far as the desktop is concerned, it won’t take more than 3 minutes to get an app up and running on Windows and chat with friends without the need for a browser.

It’s really that easy

Facebook has made it really easy to create Messenger apps, so Morales did nothing more than to build a wrapper for the web-based service to allow it to launch from the desktop.

In the video, the developer admits that you might need additional time for icons and other visual tweaks if you want the final app to look really good, but in the end, all you need is just a few minutes to bring Facebook Messenger on the desktop.

Needless to say, this is living proof that, with help from big companies, anyone can learn how to code, and luckily, more such projects will be released in the coming months.

For those who want to give it a try, the source code for Facebook Messenger is available on GitHub.
