The odd creature was discovered by researchers with the Community Ecology Lab at the University of Haifa in Israel

Not too long ago, researchers with the University of Haifa's Community Ecology Lab came across a downright bizarre creature that one can only assume Mother Nature put on Earth for one purpose alone: scare the bejesus out of us.

In a nutshell, these brainiacs in Israel found a scary-looking two-headed salamander tadpole. No, this is not some sort of a bad joke. Photos and even a video of the creature are available below, just in case you have trouble taking our word for it.

The Community Ecology Lab researchers say that this is not the first deformed salamander tadpole they have so far discovered in Israel. On the contrary, it appears that salamanders in this country often display limb abnormalities.

Still, the fact of the matter is that two-headed salamanders are by no means a common sight. Needless to say, this isn't exactly a problem, let alone a reason for utter and complete disappointment.

Newswise tells us that, for the time being, wildlife researchers cannot say for sure how and why this salamander ended up sporting two heads instead of just one, which is the norm for pretty much all living creatures.

They suspect that the tadpole came to be this deformed after being exposed to various environmental pollutants, maybe even radiation, while it was still developing.
