The team at Sony working on LittleBigPlanet 3 announces that it will be making the coming title the first one in the series to be fully voiced and that the Newton antagonist will be now voiced by Hugh Laurie, with a number of high profile actors lending their own personalities to other NPCs in the video game.

The official PS Blog announcement states, “We have naturally always been big fans of Stephen Fry, so when it came to deciding upon a voice to act as his dastardly counterpart, we couldn’t help but think that bringing Hugh Laurie on as the voice of Newton would be just the perfect double act for LittleBigPlanet 3. We couldn’t be happier to have him on-board!”

The developers are not yet ready to offer more information about the story of LittleBigPlanet 3 and the full cast of characters, but they do state that other voice actors include: Peter Serafinowicz from Shaun of the Dead, Simon Greenall from Alan Partridge and Wimbledon, Nolan North from Uncharted and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and Tara Strong known from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

The company also suggests that it will offer more details about the characters soon and adds, “We have some additional voices returning from a previous LittleBigPlanet adventure that will be making a very welcome return when they reunite with Sackboy in his latest escapade.”

LittleBigPlanet 3 focuses on creation and sharing

LittleBigPlanet 3 will focus on the core elements that have made the series so exciting, including the ability to create a wide variety of adventures with role-playing and platforming elements.

The fact that the series is moving to the PlayStation 4 also means that there are more options to share content and to collaborate on unique content.

The studio working on the title also wants to introduce more than 60 new tools that can be used to create new levels.

It’s unclear whether the performances of the voice cast, including Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, will only be used for the developers-created story or if snippets can also be used by the gamers themselves in their own creations.

LittleBigPlanet 3 will be launched on November 18 in the United States and one day later in Europe.

The team working on the title at the moment is also saying that more details about content transfer from previous versions of the game will be offered soon.
