We’ve announced earlier today, March 30, that the Linux Mint developers have released their monthly newsletter where they’ve reported the changes implemented in the upcoming releases of the LMDE 2 (Linux Mint Debian Edition), dubbed Betsy, as well as the Linux Mint 17.2 (Rebecca) operating systems.

They have also stated in the newsletter that their brilliant team of developers is in need for more artists, photographers, and web developers that can work full time, or at least for a long time, improving the artwork and the entire look of the Linux Mint project, including their online appearance and the look and feel of the operating systems.

“Linux Mint has a brilliant development team, but we need more artists, more photographs and more Web developers,” was stated in today’s newsletter. “Long term though, we’d like to work with people, internally, and have them empowered to change and improve our visual identity, not only online, but within the operating system as well.”

The entire Linux Mint project needs a huge overhaul, says Clement Lefebvre

It appears that the Linux Mint project needs a huge overhaul, starting with the websites (main website, blog, and forum), which now use some old Web technologies and look quite bad, according to Clement Lefebvre, lead developer of Linux Mint. Their aim is for a simple design for modern times, a design that that can be recognized on both desktop and online platforms.

On the other hand, Clement Lefebvre says that many components of Linux Mint need to be changed, starting with the login screen, the software manager, the welcome screen, as well as Cinnamon and GTK3. The desktop theme, wallpapers, and iconsets need to be changed as well in the upcoming releases of the Linux Mint operating systems, including the Debian edition and the main ones.
