14 DAY TRIAL // Lindsay Lohan has had more second chances than we could count without lots of time and patience to do a Google search, but she’s determined to make this one count: for the past 9 months, Lohan has been living in London, where she did a stage play. She plans to remain there indefinitely.
Cue the “good riddance” comments in the blogosphere.
On a more serious note, Lindsay insists she’s clean and sober, and determined to stay on the narrow path, which is why she would not even consider moving back to Los Angeles, where temptations (including fake friends) are everywhere.
Lindsay’s new addiction is theater
In an interview with The Guardian, Lindsay says that her newest addiction, the one she will be doing nothing to keep in check, is theater. She’s wrapped her stint on “Speed the Plow” and she’s already in talks for a new play.
If things go according to plan – and she has no doubt they will –, that will happen in early 2015.
Despite initial criticism and countless rumors that “Speed the Plow” would become a trainwreck because of Lohan’s involvement, that didn’t turn out to be the case. It’s true, Lindsay didn’t exactly slay with her performance, but she wasn’t that bad either.
Clearly, her first brush with theater has left her hungry for more, so she wants to continue in this direction. She still wants to make her movie comeback, but for the time being, she has decided that it’s best if she focuses on what she’s already got going instead of dreaming of possibilities that might never come to fruition.
Lohan is London-bound for at least another year
Since theater is her main priority right now, Lindsay won’t even hear of coming back to New York, or even worse, Los Angeles. “Hell no!” she interjects when asked if she’d like to go back.
She’s already renewed the lease on her London apartment for another year, so she’ll be staying put here.
“I can go for a run here on my own. I do every morning, early, and I think how my friends in New York would still be up partying at that time. I needed to grow up and London is a better place for me to do that than anywhere else,” she says.
There’s simply too much media attention on her back home in the US, whereas in London, she can be the closest thing she’s ever been to a “normal” person, living a “normal” life. Because of that, she says, her favorite network is the BBC, because she only gets real news from it and never hears her name mentioned, like it would happen if she were living in the US.
Privacy and secrecy
Lindsay spoke of this before, when she first moved to London and she was promoting the play by talking about her adjustment to her new life. She’s not being entirely honest, because she still gets plenty of attention from the paparazzi and the tabloids / glossies, but it’s less than she got in the US.
The other thing that’s possible because of her London stay is to maintain a level of secrecy around her personal life. Back in the US, speculation has it that she prefers it this way, because it allows her to continue partying like before – only that, this time, when she says she’s not, she knows for a fact there will be no damning photographic proof against her.
If we’re to go by online reports, Lindsay is as bad, if not actually worse than before: she’s still doing drugs, she’s still drinking, she’s still partying nightly and she’s still surrounded by bad people who pull her in the wrong directions. The only thing that’s changed is her location.
However, if Lindsay says she’s ok, we’ll just have to take her word for it, for the time being.
