14 DAY TRIAL // Lindsay Lohan has temporarily moved to London, where she’s attempting to revive her stalling acting career with a theater stint, with “Speed the Plow,” but reports claim that she’s doing a bit more than just focus on her career while there.
Lohan, who has not been in a long and public relationship since her ill-fated romance with Samantha Ronson in 2010, is said to be dating in secret one of the hottest bachelors of the moment, who, as it happens, is also one of the biggest action stars of all times.
That would be Tom Cruise, who split from his third wife Katie Holmes a couple of years ago.
“Lindsay always had a major crush on Tom”
According to a report cited by the Daily Mail, Lindsay and Tom crossed paths earlier this month, when they were both in London, at the Chiltern Firehouse. They met and swapped numbers, and according to insiders, when he called her up to ask her out, she “pounced” at the chance because she’s “always had a major crush on Tom.”
Insiders claim that the two have dated for most of October in secret and that they’re eager to keep things quiet for a while longer. This would explain why Lohan’s rep is telling the British tab that there is no truth to the report that they’re dating – well, either that or they’re really not dating.
Assuming they are though, they would make for one of Hollywood’s unlikeliest couples ever. As we speak, celebrity bloggers are already thinking ahead, picturing Lohan converted to Scientology and turned into a prim and sober Mrs. Cruise the IVth.
She might even benefit from the association as far as her career goes, though if rumors about the Cruise-Holmes marriage are accurate, Tom is looking for a wife slash stay-at-home mom, and not a celebrity partner. That is to say, he might expect her to have his kid and then dedicate her entire time to becoming Mrs. Cruise – and nothing much.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves a bit.
Lindsay’s career comeback isn’t exactly ideal
As noted above, Lohan moved to London to relaunch her career, after failing to do so with her post-rehab Oprah docuseries Lindsay. She told the media that she also wanted to live here for a while because, here, unlike in LA or NYC across the pond, she could be her own person without being a celebrity.
In short, Lindsay wanted to live in London because she received comparatively less media attention than she did back home, including from the paparazzi. That’s not true: not a single day passes without some publication or another running paparazzi photos of her out clubbing, which is a weird thing for a recovering alcoholic and drug addict to do.
To boot, her performance in the play hasn’t been met with the reviews she was probably counting on. At first, critics and fans labeled it a trainwreck, but other voices have emerged since to claim that it’s not that bad. That’s not to say it’s great: it means it’s a decent performance, a surprising performance considering everyone expected her to be really bad.
Lindsay herself said it best: she’s not a trainwreck; so she’s not exactly good in the role, doesn’t put an entirely convincing performance, and she forgets lines, but she could have been much worse – she could have not showed up at all.
