Check out the reactions to seeing the laptop broken

Some may say that Lenovo doesn't need to go out of its way to advertise its products, at least not more out of its way than it already is. It is one of the top two makers of PCs in the world, the biggest according to some analysts.

Apparently, the company both agrees and disagrees with this notion, at least as far as the Yoga 3 Laptop is concerned.

Instead of paying to have conventional ads aired about it (though I'm sure some of them exist anyway), Lenovo has hired the Upright Citizens Brigade to prank people.

The group has hidden cameras at a fake kiosk at Pennsylvania’s Plymouth Meeting Mall to film passing shoppers being pranked.

People walking around and browsing are approached by a man offering to introduce them to the Yoga 3 laptop, only to “accidentally” break it in half and immediately absconding, leaving the shoppers to face the consequences.

It's a good thing that the Yoga 3 is as much a tablet as it is a notebook, since the hinge is actually a flexible dock, and the upper half can completely detach just fine. Still might make for a little laugh to watch the pranks though. Some may even make it into prank compilations later. There are plenty of them on YouTube and elsewhere.
