Samsung’s Z1 is also thriving in the country

Remember that a few days ago we told you that Samsung’s first Tizen OS phone, the Z1, was actually killing it in India?

According to a report, the device managed to sell in 50,000 units during the first 10 days. The numbers might seem quite impressive, but pale in comparison with Lenovo’s latest achievement.

Lenovo scores big with its latest A6000

The Chinese company unveiled its latest budget-oriented A6000 smartphone in the country not so long ago. Now the company proudly announces on Twitter that it managed to sell 10,000 items in just 2 seconds.

That’s certainly a lot more exciting than Samsung, which sold 5,000 items throughout one working day.

The key to this unexpected success seems to be that Lenovo choose to market the phone via online means, exclusively, thus following the steps of Xiaomi and Micromax that do the same in the country.

The Lenovo A6000 was offered on one of India’s most popular eCommerce websites called Flipkart. The smartphone was offered with the extremely attractive $113 / €100 price tag which is why so many customers got immediately interested in the device.

For this amount of money, customers are awarded a 5-inch device with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, a decent Snapdragon 410 chipset fitted with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card).

By contrast, the Samsung Z1 takes advantage of a much smaller 4-inch display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution. The device is offered with a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU fitted with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

As you can see, Samsung is offering a lot less (for $91 / €78), but the Korean tech giant says that its Tizen OS platform is a lot lighter on hardware, so the handset will run smoothly without boasting the most advanced hardware.
