Leica has rolled out a new firmware package developed for its X Vario (Typ 107) compact camera, namely version 1.1, which adds a new functionality item (Auto ISO) that keeps the camera in “M” mode and automatically selects the shutter speed time between 1s to 1/1000s.

In addition to that, the 1.1 update corrects the Direct Exposure by allowing direct access to the Thumb Dial for Exposure Value compensation in “A” and “T” modes, and gives users the ability to adjust volume via the top and bottom buttons on the back rocker switch (only in playback mode).

Moreover, Leica’s release changes the behavior of the Flash button so that it is now active only when the internal flash is open or the external flash is attached, as well as of the Info button which can now confirm menu selections and start the playback function.

That being said, in order to make use of these changes, save and extract the downloadable archive, copy the “XV-1_100.upd” file onto a formatted SD card, make sure the camera’s battery is fully charged, turn off the device, and insert the memory card into the camera.

Now, simply turn on the Leica X Vario unit while pressing the Info button, and press “Ok” at the firmware update screen to initiate the upgrade. The installation process should take about 90 seconds to finish, so allow the device to perform this task.

Upon completion, turn off the camera, remove the SD card, and then power the unit back on to check the currently installed version and to ensure the process has been successful.

With this in mind, download Leica X Vario (Typ 107) Camera Firmware 1.1, take into account all aforementioned aspects, upgrade your camera, and enjoy the new changes that this release brings about.
