League of Legends developer Riot Games confirms that it's relaxed the restrictions imposed on the gifting of content like skins, champions and other items, not to mention the premium Riot Points inside the popular multiplayer online battle arena title.

League of Legends is one of the most popular free-to-play online titles, with tens of millions of people enjoying Riot Games' title every month. Given its popularity, the studio has taken lots of measures to ensure that fraud is prevented and those who want to trick its system are punished.

One key area that was filled with potential for cheating is the item gifting system on which all sorts of restrictions were imposed in order to prevent people from making multiple accounts and then profiting from different mechanics.

Relaxed rules now govern League of Legends gifting

However, Riot Games now confirms on its official website that its automated tools and its experienced player support team have gotten much better at detecting fraud attempts. As such, the actual rules governing the gifting of items have been relaxed, in order to avoid making regular players upset.

First up, in terms of content gifting, which covers skins, champions, rune pages, icons, ward skins, or mystery boxes, players who send a gift must be at least level 10. Those who receive it must be at least level 1. You can only send and receive 10 gifts each day. If you're banned or suspended, however, you can't receive them. What's more, to be able to send a gift to another player, that user must be on your buddy least for at least a day, not two weeks, as was dictated by the rules until now.

The gifting of Riot Points has a few stricter restrictions, but they've also been relaxed by Riot. To receive RP, you must be at least level 1, and to send them you must be at least level 15. You can only send and receive up to 5 RP gifts each day. The recipient of the RP gifts must be on your buddy list for at least one day.

The new rules are already present in League of Legends.
