14 DAY TRIAL // The development team at Riot Games announces that League of Legends will hold its finals for the 2015 edition of the World Championship in Europe in October of this year, with more details set to be announced about the major event all through the year.
The official article explains that the studio was impressed with the dedication of fans and eSports professionals in Taipei, Singapore, and Korea and hopes that similar enthusiasm will be found in the new location.
Riot Games states that "Europe has been a home for LoL esports since the very first steps in our journey. It’s the setting for the EU LCS, the host for many memorable esports tournaments and events, (including our inaugural World Championship in 2011, IEM, Dreamhack, and last year’s All Star tournament) and the home of some of the most talented players to dominate the game."
The group stage, the quarterfinals, semifinals and the last and most important matches will take place in various cities and countries in Europe, but the development team is not yet ready to offer any hint about the locations that are being chosen or those that are being considered.
The team adds, "Last year’s multi-city journey to Worlds was a fast-paced and exhilarating ride - we learned a ton about the kind of experience we want to offer to competing pros, fans in the stadiums, and viewers at home. We’re ready for an action-packed month in Europe."
