Android fans in India are flooded with new Android smartphones every week, and most of these devices seem to come from native OEMs rather than major brands like Samsung, Sony, LG, HTC and Motorola.

The latest addition to Lava Mobiles’ portfolio of Android smartphones is called Iris Alfa L and will be available for purchase in the coming days.

According to the Indian company, the mid-range handset will go on sale for around Rs 8,000 outright, which is about $125 or €115. Lava Iris Alfa L is expected to hit shelves at all major retailers across the country, and customers will be able to choose between white and metallic grey colors.

Along with the Iris Alfa L launch announcement, Lava has also confirmed the upcoming availability of a flip cover for the smartphones mentioned earlier, which will be available for purchase for Rs 300 ($4.5 / €4.3).

One of the major selling points of the Lava Iris Alfa L is Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, which powers the smartphone right out of the box.

In addition, the handset sports a large 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, which might be a bit disappointing for some.

On the back, Lava Iris Alfa L packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, whereas on the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Moving on to hardware, Lava’s mid-range smartphone is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6582M processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 32GB).

Last but not least, the handset is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery and offers many connectivity options, including dual-SIM, 3G and Wi-Fi support, along with Bluetooth, GPS with AGPS support and microUSB 2.0.
