Nintendo announced that Mario Maker and Yoshi's Woolly World, two highly anticipated video games, would land on the Wii U this fall.

Nintendo held a brand new Nintendo Direct presentation yesterday, on April 1, and although it didn't feature any pranks, it was host to a slew of exciting announcements regarding the company's plans for the future.

In case you missed it or you want to recap all the major announcements regarding the video games that are coming to the Japanese corporation's consoles, the Wii U and 3DS, or to get up to speed with the latest Amiibo news, you can now watch it below.

The company also outlined its plans regarding the Amiibo series, showing that we're getting a ton of new figurines this year, including ones themed after the upcoming third-person shooter Splatoon, and some brand new card-based types.

An exciting year for Nintendo fans, but sadly, no Legend of Zelda for the Wii U

Mario Maker will make its debut this September, enabling users to create their own Mario levels and share them online with people all around the world, which is auspicious, since Super Mario Bros. is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Nintendo has scheduled a ton of activities related to the celebration of its most iconic franchise, taking place throughout the year, to be revealed at a later date.

The game was initially created as a tool for the company's internal use, but Nintendo decided that making side-scrolling two-dimensional platformers was too fun to keep it all to itself.

The game blends the fun of Mario Painter with the ability to easily create courses for Mario to run through. The action revolves around playing in a level editor sandbox, with several different visual styles available for users to choose from.

Yoshi's Woolly World will come with a set of Amiibo figures made out of actual yarn, available in three colors, green, pink and blue.

The adventure game will feature a two-player co-op mode and will emphasize exploration, with players assuming control of an adorable yarn dinosaur and using a wide array of yarn-based abilities.

The game comes from the same team who delivered Kirby's Epic Yarn, which means that, if you liked its fluffy antics, you're going to have a blast with this one too.
