LG is days away from unveiling its heavily anticipated G4 flagship, and before the storm hits, the Korean company decided it was a good idea to unveil a new mid-ranger.

The LG G Stylo has previously leaked online, but now the handset is official, as a larger successor to the LG G3 Stylus which was launched back in 2014.

The new phablet arrives with a 5.7-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, working with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in internal storage. The phone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and comes with a stylus you can use to scribble on the display.

As you can see, the LG G Stylo doesn’t qualify as a high-end device and is merely a mid-ranger at best. But it does come with an interesting perk.

The LG G Stylo comes with a peculiar feature

While flagship devices arriving today, like the Samsung Galaxy S6, forfeit the microSD card on board, the LG G Stylo does no such compromises. Actually, the phone will be able to store a massive amount of data, because it arrives with support for microSD cards of up to 2TB.

But even if LG is making this option available, the caveat is that no one is manufacturing and selling 2TB microSD cards at the moment. So you won’t have the means to tap into the full potential of the storage unit. For now.

However, when microSD cards of such capacity make an entry on the market, LG’s G Stylo will be there waiting.

The new smartphone measures 154.3 x 79.2 x 9.6 mm / 6.06 x 3.11 x 0.37 inches and tips the scales at 163 g / 0.35 lbs. Other features you’ll find on board are 8MP/5MP camera combo, LTE connectivity, and Bluetooth 4.1.

LG will start offering the G Stylo in South Korea first for a price tag of approximately $460 / €427. But starting this May, the Korean tech giant will offer the phablet on the international market as well (although we’re not told exactly which countries will receive it).

Also, bear in mind that LG might have another device, dubbed the LG G4 Stylus, prepared for us, which according to word on the street should make it out with a 5.8-inch display and a Snapdragon 610 or 615 processor on the inside.
