There have been a lot of rumors flying around about LG’s upcoming G4 flagship handset. One of the most intriguing ones had it that the device would be launched as a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 alternative, arriving complete with a G Pen functionality.

The thing is some time ago LG was spotted filing a trademark with the USPTO for a so-called “LG G Pen” technology.

The company already tested out the stylus/smartphone combo with a variant of the LG G3, dubbed the Stylus, but customers didn't go too nutty in relation to the product. This in turn can be blamed on the fact that this particular version came with mid-range specs.

When it arrived last year, the LG G3 Stylus brought along a 5.5-inch IPS display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, a 1.3GHz quad-core CPU, 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD), 1GB of RAM, a 13MP shooter on the back and a 1.3MP one up in the front, plus a reliable 3,000 mAh battery.

No pen coming with the LG G4

But according to a new report coming out MyLGPhones, LG has decided against introducing a stylus with its upcoming flagship.

Interestingly enough, the company seems to believe it’s a good idea to push out a refresh of its LG G3 Stylus handset instead, even if the original didn't spike the interest of a lot of folks out there.

Digging for clues produced a document which shows a device going by model number LG-H631 (also known as P1S). This particular product is expected to flaunt a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.

Since LG-H810 is probably going to be the LG G4 headed to AT&T and is listed as P1, the P1S could either be the LG G4 Stylus.

Other specs of the LG G4 Stylus are a mystery for the time being. It assumed the model will be rolled out sometimes in Q3 2015.

As for the fully-fledged LG G4, the flagship has been delayed to Q2, sometimes after MWC 2015.
